Ever wondered where you can get up and close to one of nature's most loved animals? You don’t have to look far; If you head into Norfolk, you will find some of Britain’s biggest collections of seals in their natural habitat.

Depending on when you visit, you are sure to find many different species of seals. Grey seals are normally spotted around November and January. Now is the best time to spot common seals who come ashore to have their pups between June and August.

There are a few fantastic spots along the Norfolk coast where you will be lucky enough to spot these beautiful creatures. We have highlighted 3 of the best viewing spots for you.

  • Hunstanton – The furthest place from The Hollies, but a great place to see the seals, especially in the summer months. You can either take a Seal Safari, which runs 52 weeks a year, and visit The Wash, where you can see up to 3000 common seals! You can also choose to visit the Sea Life centre, which has a seal hospital, where they take in sick or injured seals and take care of them and then release them back into the wild.

  • Blakeney Point – Known for being one of the best places to visit the seals, they are often found on their own stretch of singles taking in the sunshine. However, you are unable to see the seals from the shoreline. However, don’t fear you can catch a boat from Blakeney harbour, which takes you on a trip out to visit them. We do suggest booking ahead though, as during the summer months they can get very busy with locals and tourists alike.

  • Horsey – The beaches between Horsey and Winterton are a great place to see the Atlantic Grey Seal colony all year round. You will often find them catching some sunrays. During the winter months, you will get to catch sight of the brand-new pups, and during these months the beach will be closed to the public to protect them, but don’t worry, there are great viewing platforms so you can catch a glimpse. During the other months, however, the beach is open so you can get closer to them, but please make sure you adhere to the 10m distance rule.

Please do remember though, when visiting, it is important that you do not feed them, make sure you keep your distance and make sure dogs are also kept at a distance.

Don’t forget your camera, those memories are worth keeping!
